Raízes do Brasil Capoeira Madison was started by Contra-Mestre Sabidinho (Dominic Stryker) in 2006.
Sabidinho began training with Mestre Papiba of Santa Cruz, CA via Brasilia Brazil, in the summer of 1996. By 1999, Sabidinho began to help teach and even substitute teach both the adult and kids classes in Santa Cruz.
In the fall of 2000, Sabidinho moved to San Francisco CA for school but he continued to train capoeira with Raízes do Brasil in Oakland CA under Professor Tartaruga, as well as regular visits back to Santa Cruz and Mestre Papiba. While completing his B.A. in Child and Adolescent Development at San Francisco State University, Instructor Sabidinho was not only able to train regularly, but he also would regularly sub for Prof. Tartaruga and taught classes in an after-school program in east Oakland.
Sabi and his family moved back to California in 2016, but the Madison group continues to train and brings in visitors from time to time.
